BEHIND INTERIOR DESIGNS AND STYLES:
AN ITALIAN DREAM HOME
Inside the home of Florence and Tiago is interior design perfection. A contrasting yet cohabitating mix of styles everywhere you turn.
Resting in the heart of London Bridge appeared a brand new, exciting project for interior design company Dozeli Design. A lovely Argentinian couple was desperately searching online only to find Mazamir Boosheri’s established interior design studio first! They desired to create an apartment home that was cosy, colourful, and the exact reflection of both their personalities.
In 2023, after a successful run spent racking up honorary commercial business projects, it was time for the company to transition into helping London’s homeowners.
Design Studio Dozeli Design (Dozeli meaning ‘2D’), already moving toward residential builds, decided to take the offer with its interior designer and CEO Mazamir at the helm.
Based in Richmond, the company has been around for over five years now, creating dynamic interiors for commercial businesses like Chapters Cafe, Taste of Teriyaki, Eat17, and Chocolatier. They have even crafted exuberant, colourful designs for famous YouTubers like Calfreezy and Callux.
At the unconventional time of winter for homeowners, Florencia and Tiago’s request seemed like fate for Maz's planned transition. Their small apartment project was an easy way for the business to get back into the residential sector and to enhance their portfolio for bigger clients in the future.
Now, let’s get into the details of how their perfect apartment was made…
Finding The Perfect Design Ideas to Use for The Apartment Home
The right ideas to design a beautiful home begin with a simple mood board comprising several collage-like inspirations. These help build the potential theme for your home’s design, depending on which inspiration you prefer.
Contrary to other designers in the industry, Mazamir is delicate about what ideas her clients like and do not like. To ensure every project is exactly what the client wants, Maz has incorporated a fun scoring system for clients to fill out before any practical work on their building begins.
Clients of Dozeli are encouraged to complete an enjoyable scoring system based on how much they like or do not like an idea (i.e., style, colour, or pattern) that’s presented to them on the mood board.
This enables Maz and her team to fashion a design that fits precisely the idea her clients had in their imagination.
For this particular couple, they desired a living space that was not too loud but yet still found that right balance. The colours we see spread across the apartment are mainly white and beige. Such quiet colours fit the essence of this quiet Argentinian couple who had only been living in London for a few months.
Living room to Office room and Interior Design secrets
From here on, we will spend a moment discussing all the nitty-gritty of this fabulous design, starting with Florencia and Tiago’s living room.
Notice the air of craftsmanship this space gives off simply by its particular modern and sleek style. The pure white couches ooze nothing but comfort and delight. Sitting right above it is the plasma TV, which has been placed as one of the main focal points of this room. Many contrary interior design styles for this home most likely would have failed to do the couple's small apartment design justice. Dozeli’s team made sure to carefully select a modern interior style to best suit the size of this new project.
Moving over to the left side of the room, our eyes instantly pick up an uncanny object not seen in most rooms: giant red lips. What’s interesting about this piece is not how it introduces a different personality to the room but more in the way it resides by a man’s best wine selection. Somehow the contrast of these two things places the room in perfect sync. Mazamir also has an advanced understanding of colour blends. Look closer and you’ll see the beige wall colour coincides well with this slightly darker shade of red lips.
Opposite the wines stands tall three rectangular mirrors (our designer's signature shape) juxtaposed by an elegant skinny black candle waiting to be lit by a fire. It was Florencia and Tiago’s idea to place contemporary pieces in their newly renovated living room—think of it as a personal statement to anyone who visits them.
Next, seated near the candle set is a bold light brown book that reads ’Los Tres Mesquetos,’ which when translated from Spanish says ‘The Three Musketeers.’. It’s a tribute to Tiago’s love for literature and a complimentary touch to an already mosaic selection of living room adornments—all of which the couple adored.
‘Maz is absolutely brilliant,’ explains Tiago. ‘She transformed our very plain and boring and empty flat into a true home, cosy yet stylish...’
He goes on to say, ‘…She captured our styles and personalities and made them shine through, whilst making really smart design decisions at the same time. She enhanced the flat’s features and added focal points in every room.’
As we step into the next room, the office room, we’re met with a more simplistic yet thoughtful interior. Painted down the wall of this practical office space is a group of abstract lines that almost look like ink leaking from the ceiling but somehow miraculously stop and end in looping curls. What inspired this part of the room was Tiago and Florence’s love for abstract painting. To match the design is a patterned black and white footrest below.
How to make your residential home interior bespoke and full of inspiration
To personalise your small home into something that is stylish, practical, and aesthetically pleasing, you’ll need to acquire the best interior designers in the UK. Maz has honed the ability to mould rooms that mirror her client’s personalities. Such little touches like the smart living room light that is dedicated to Tiago’s clever yet intelligent persona.
Moreover, a great help to transform your living space is finding suppliers that suit your style of furniture and objects. Maz often picks mainstream stores that consistently offer a broad range of items. Examples include Ikea, Argos, and B&Q.
It’s time for us to list a few items from this project.
Chair £14.99 from Home Sound
Table £20.00 from Ikea
Lips £50.00 from Amazon
It’s not the price that matters to a designer in the stages of revolutionising a client's home; it is rather the choices you make when picking the items. The soft white chairs set in the living room exemplify peace, a character trait that Tiago has.
Measurements, fabrics, and space
How do you take a bland and spacious apartment in London Bridge and turn it into something great?
The answer is with a correct understanding of the golden ratio for living spaces, having an eye for quality fabrics, and long-time experience with colour blends. Plus, you must be an interior designer!
This apartment project wouldn’t be what it is without Mazamir’s idiosyncratic traits of design. These include her choice of shapes, which suit each room; her ability to combine different colours together seamlessly; her comprehension of the right amount of space in between objects like furniture and other adornments; and lastly, her gift for designing contemporary spaces.
It’s these characteristics that make Dozeli the interior design brand it is!
As winter approaches, the next remodelling of another home like this shall begin.
